Numbers

I have just started unit 5 with my Small Stars class. We are now learning numbers and I just wanted to share this interesting fact I learned with you.

Just like in America, the Chinese use their fingers to represent numbers. But instead of using a second hand to represent numbers 6-10 (like we do in America), they only use one hand to represent all ten numbers.

The numbers one through five are the same as ours, but six through ten are a little different. So while teaching the kids English numbers for the numbers I use these symbols to represent the numbers and it has been working pretty well.

– 6

– 7

– 8

– 9

– 10
